ELA SKILLS
This week in ELA skills, we spent a lot of time learning and practicing our new Tricky Words. We read them, we wrote them, we spelled them and we played a games with them! The words are: were, here and there...super tricky!! Please help us read, write, and spell them at home, too. We also read 4 new stories in our Zack and Ann readers. We loved taking our readers outside to practice reading in the sunshine...look how cute we are😊
Check out one of the ways we practiced reading our Tricky Words this week. We could play this game at home, too! We are doing such a great job with our tic tac toe strategy, too!
ELA KNOWLEDGE
We are learning all about the seasons and weather in ELA Knowledge! We are keeping a daily weather journal - where we write about the weather characteristics of each day. We also listened to The Grasshopper and the Ants fable. We learned to identify and describe characteristics of a fable as well as identifying the moral. We also learned how seasons correspond to the main events in this story. Be sure to ask us all about this fable at home, too!
MATH
During math, we are working on measurement, emphasizing estimating, measuring, and comparing length with non-standard units. We stress precise measuring, counting, and recording. Skip-counting by 2s has been reintroduced. Encourage your kindergartner to practice counting by 2s to 20.
