A Note from the Principal Dear Thorson Families, Our March character traits are courage and perseverance. We will have our all-school Jaguar Jumpstart in the gym tomorrow morning where we will continue our work with these concepts. We begin promptly at 8:50 a.m., so please make sure that your child is here on time tomorrow morning. Don’t forget to have your child wear their Thorson spiritwear or school colors! We will be beginning class placement work for the 2024-25 school year soon. Please read this important letter regarding class placement and parent feedback. If you would like to provide feedback regarding the classroom environment that best suits your child, please follow the instructions in the letter and provide this by Tuesday, April 2. Please remember that specific teacher requests cannot be honored. Our next PTO meeting is Monday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. We will meet in the Thorson Community Room. Please enter at Door 14. We invite all to join us! Also, don’t forget that our PTO Winter Carnival is coming up next weekend and will be held on Saturday, March 16. The Carnival Chairs and Committee have been hard at work and are excited to provide a fun, family event for our school community. As was communicated in an email earlier this week, we will be having a special school-wide celebration that will utilize the cafeteria space on Friday, March 22. Due to this, students will be eating lunch in their classrooms. The only hot lunch option available will be a bag lunch that must be pre-ordered. Ms Kestell, Mrs. Kowalkowski, and Mrs. McGlone are bringing back the Girls Running Club! English Language Arts Update At the Curriculum Committee of the Board meeting, a recommendation to implement Amplify CKLA as the District's new elementary curriculum for 2024-25 was proposed. The resources are now under closer review by committee members with potential School Board action in March. These resources are also available for parent/guardian review if you'd like to see them more closely. Thorson Green Squad The Thorson Green Squad is looking for volunteers to help collect our maple sap from our school forest. Once collected, Mrs. Papke will boil it down to make maple syrup for the students to taste! This yearly program is a great hands-on way for our students to get outdoors. Winter Carnival Presale The Thorson Winter Carnival is Saturday, March 16th from 11am‐3pm! Pre order your wristbands and skip the lines! By purchasing a wristband, your child will gain access to a variety of games, face painting, the lollipop tree, cake walk and more.Adult chaperones enter for free with a participating child. Each paid admission is eligible to win prizes. Children 3 years old and younger get in for free but are not eligible for prizes.Wrist bands cost $15 per child with a family max cost of $45. Parents who volunteer at the Carnival will receive a discount of $12/child or max of $40 for thewhole family! Preordering is easy! Print and complete the following pre order form.
