Dear Families,
This week flew by! We had a busy short work!
ELA
In skills this week, we are continuing to work on consonant clusters. Examples of these words are "milk, stamp, flip" We practiced these words in our new story, Kit's Pants. This story is a part of a series of other stories about Kit. When we practice these stories, we are also listening for the characters, setting, and events that happen in the story. We are asked to answer these questions in a complete sentence. We can do it!
In knowledge, we started our new unit of Kings and Queens. We loved learning about how kings and queens lived long ago. We learned all about how in a royal family, the dad is the king, the mom is the queen, the sister is called a princess, and the brother is called a prince. We had the opportunity to listen to the story "King Midas and the Golden Touch". We also learned the two nursery rhymes of "Old King Cole" and "Sing a Song of Sixpence"
We also learned a lot about Arctic Animals. Have you had a chance to watch our poem Arctic Animals on Seesaw? One of the animals we focused on was the polar bear. As a class, we labeled a polar bear and worked on a polar bear project.

Math
We had fun learning the value of coins this week! We played a few different games using nickels and pennies. We had to count the values of 1 nickel and 1-5 pennies...We could practice this at home, too! We also started looking at shapes and how they are made up.
We had a fantastic time with our PBIS celebration on Thursday. It was so fun to go outside and play in the snow. The hot chocolate and candy canes were a special treat! Way to go Jaguars!

*If your child is planning on sending in valentines - we have 39 students between our classrooms!
* More snack is needed! If you are able to send in a box of Ritz crackers or Graham crackers, that would be so helpful
* Be sure that your child has ALL their snow gear labeled!
Have a great weekend!
💕Mrs. Neuville and Mrs. Rocky
