Dear Families,
What a busy week we have had!
ELA SKILLS
This week we reviewed all of our past sounds and all of our tricky words. Please practice ALL tricky words each night! These words are: one, two, three, the, a, blue, yellow, and look. We played the game "Tricky Teacher, Smarty Student" Mrs. Neuville would say a sound, and the students had to write the correct picture of the sound. Students would get a point if everyone wrote the right picture, and the teachers would get a point if the drawings were wrong or if they went backward. Then, Mrs. Neuville made it trickier! She would say a CVC word (consonant, vowel, consonant) and students would have to write the whole word! Ask your kindergartner to write words like "cat, set, mop, sip, yes" They can do it!
We also got our own Ox and Man book! Each day, we get to illustrate a page in our book. The illustrations need to match the words. Our books are looking great!
Our poem this week was Reindeer Snack. Ask your kindergartner all about it! Today, we made some reindeer snack to help Santa's reindeer on their trip to our homes. We added the special sprinkles that our elf, Jingles, brought us to some oats. We each had a chance to do three big shakes into the big bowl. All of us have the special reindeer snack to bring home.
ELA KNOWLEDGE
We started our new unit all about Native Americans! We learned all about the Lakota Sioux tribe. We found out that this tribe lived in the Great Plains and would travel from place to place to hunt for buffalo. The Lakota Sioux tribe felt that the buffalo was sacred and would use all parts of the buffalo. Clothing, shelter, toys, food, and tools were all made from the buffalo. In the next few lessons, we are going to be learning about the Wampanoag and the Lenape.
Check out our learning so far! We are comparing students today to the different tribes. So far we have filled in the Lakota Sioux tribe information. Ask your kindergartner about it!
We played a fun game in math this week. It is called Beat You to Twenty. It is like our game Beat You to Five and Beat You to Ten. We need to roll a number die and add that many cubes to our game board. Once one team gets to 20, they win! It is a fun way to practice our addition. You can play this game at home! SOCIAL STUDIES
We are continuing to learn about where we live. We started so big that we live on Earth, the North America continent, the country of the United States, the state of Wisconsin, and go to school in Cedarburg! Wow! Students were loving finding these places on globes and on maps.
* Tomorrow is Festive Friday! Your child can wear tropical outfits OR they can dress like their favorite character from the Grinch movie.
*Please send your child's LABELED snow clothes in a separate bag. We do not want to put wet snow pants/mittens in their backpacks.
* ALL students go outside for winter recess- please ensure your child has proper winter attire.
*Extra mittens and socks are always a good idea on those wet, snowy days!
* Please return the paper bags from the art projects to school. We would love to fill them back up again at the end of January!
*TOMORROW is our last day of school before Winter Break! We will be watching the Grinch movie. We are so excited!
Have a wonderful break! We will see you in 2024!
💚💛 Mrs. Neuville and Mrs. Rocky
