A Note from the PrincipalDear Thorson Families, We are gearing up for our annual Halloween parade tomorrow. The parade begins at 3:15 p.m. Details can be found here. Please ensure that you stand in the designated spaces for parents/guests. Also, be sure to watch your email just in case of a weather cancellation. We will make that determination by 1:00 p.m. if needed. Please remember that students will not be released until 3:35, which is normal dismissal time. Thank you to all of the families who brought in decorated pumpkins for our Pumpkin Days event. The creations are amazing and the students and staff have enjoyed viewing these all week. If you brought a pumpkin, your pumpkin will be on the cart by Door 1 tomorrow for you to pick up. We will once again be having our district elementary Veterans Day celebration. We invite veterans to join us in our special car procession past the three elementary schools. The car procession will take place on Friday, November 10. If your family has a veteran who can join us for this procession, please fill out this form. We will also be doing a service project to collect money for Camp Hometown Heroes, which provides a free camp experience for children and siblings of fallen U.S. Service Members. Please consider helping us with this effort. More details regarding this cause and how to donate can be found below. As was shared in the district family newsletter, dogs are not permitted on school property. As outlined in Board Policy 8390 and with the exception of service animals, dogs are not allowed on school district grounds, playgrounds, or sports fields at any time throughout the calendar year. This is for the health and safety of our students and staff members. Thank you for following this important policy! Remember, there is no school next Friday, November 3, as it is the end of the quarter record day. Watch for an email on Monday, October 30 to sign up for parent/teacher conferences!
