Thorson Weekly Notes September 14, 2023 Follow us on Facebook! A Note from the Principal   Dear Thorson Families, We had another great week at Thorson! Students are learning so much and are doing a wonderful job showing their Jaguar Pride.  The PTO mum sale was a huge success. Thank you to all of the volunteers who coordinated this sale, and to all who purchased mums. The plants are absolutely beautiful and it was great to see the strong turnout for our first PTO fundraiser. In other PTO news, the deadline for ordering Thorson spiritwear is this Sunday. Spiritwear can be purchased at this link. Also, the PTO’s first Dining for Dollars event is next Wednesday, September 20 at Wayne’s Drive-In. Come out and enjoy great food and company! See the flyer below for more details. Please take a moment to review our elementary handbook section on student dress. This can be found at this link on page 13. Please note that “spaghetti” strap shirts and tops or bottoms that leave any abdominal, back or midriff skin exposed are not acceptable dress for school. Please ensure that your child is dressed according to these guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation! Family Sharing of Ozaukee County is again providing the “Bags in Backpacks” program. This program provides an entire weekend supply of nutritious food for a child when school lunch and breakfast are unavailable on weekends. Bags in Backpacks is confidential, with only the building principal/office being aware of who is utilizing the program. If you are interested in participating, all you need to do is contact Lindsay O’Morrow at lomorrow@cedarburg.k12.wi.us or 262-376-6700.  Looking ahead, we have picture day coming up on Wednesday, September 27. Please follow this link for more information and registration.  Fuel Up to Play 60 Dear 4th or 5th Grade Parent, We are excited to offer our Thorson Fuel Up to Play 60 program again this year! If your son/daughter is interested in being a part of the Thorson Fuel Up to Play 60 Team, please complete this form BY Monday, September 18th, in time for our first meeting on Tuesday, September 19th. The meetings will generally be held the first and third Tuesdays of the month, (with a couple of exceptions*) from 7:45-8:35 am. September 19th October 3rd and 17th, no meeting on Oct 31st November 7st and 21st December 5th and 19th January 16th and 30th*, no meeting on Jan 2nd Family Wellness Night - Friday, February 2nd (Tentative Date; more info to be shared later)                    February 6th and 20th                        March 5th and 19th April 16th and 30th*, no meeting on April 2nd May 7th and 21st June 4th and TBD; Field Day set up Patty Kestell and Michelle Anderson (Co-Advisors for FUTP60) PBIS PBIS? What's that? Here is information and an update from Thorson's PBIS Tier 1 Team! Thorson Girls in STEAM Calling all community members who work in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math! We are looking for presenters for our Girls in STEAM club for 3rd-5th grade girls. Please fill out this form by September 29th if you are interested! Ms. Kestell, Mrs. Kowalkowski, and Mrs. McGlone are back for another year of Active Jaguars but this year we are kicking this club off in the fall!  This club provides students in the 4th and 5th grade with an opportunity to be active through fun and fitness activities and games. This club will encourage students to cooperate, team build, set personal goals, and practice good sportsmanship.  If this sounds like something your student is interested in joining  please read here for more information and fill out this form by Monday, September 25. Dining for Dollars- Wayne's Drive-In --Wed, September 20th, 4:00-8:00 p.m.  Spiritwear store will be open until September 17th.   The orders will be processed at that time.  Orders are expected to be ready for distribution the week of October 9th.   Reserve the Thorson Celebration Rock for the 2023-2024 school year Reservation requests for the Thorson Celebration Rock are now being accepted for the 2023-2024 school year.
