Dear families,
Our Kinder Cardiology day was a success! Our little doctors did a fantastic job at repairing hearts just in time for valentines day! Thank you to all the families who helped to make the day a success.
This week we talked about the vowel team oo. We learned that it can make two sounds, like in moon or like in book. We have worked on the Star Words come and went. Check out your child's Seesaw work to see how they are doing with their phonemic awareness. Our read-aloud this week was Roses are Pink Your Feet Really Stink. The main character Gilbert gets in a little bit of trouble when making some valentines for his friends in his class. Ask your kindergartner to tell you all about it! While reading this story, we were working on the skills of predicting, identifying the problem and solution, and retelling.
Here is a video link to the story to enjoy!
We are working on our All About or informative books during writing time. As a class, we are working on the story All About Apples. We are teaching our readers what apples are, where apples come from, and the colors of apples. When we write informative stories, our pictures need to teach. We are working on adding labels and having the pictures match the words.
Thank you to all the families who have already completed the animal report homework. We will be working on these stories soon!
In math, we are working on shapes. We found out that we can make larger shapes from smaller shapes. Take a peek at our class quilt. Students also noticed what special qualities our quilt had.
Reminders:
The snow is here! Please label all of our child's clothing. Many students do not know if it belongs to them. If possible, provide a sturdy bag in where all the snow gear can be put at the end of the day.
We eat snacks twice a day. Please be sure that your child has two.
Thank you for all of your support!
