Wear Red, White, and Blue Tomorrow

A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,

Tomorrow will be an exciting day at Thorson! We are starting off the day with our monthly in-person Jaguar Jumpstart. The 4th-grade choir will be performing the Star Spangled Banner for us as we celebrate Veterans Day. Then, we will head outside for our Veterans Day car procession. Students and staff are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and students may bring a small flag to wave in the parade if they would like to. While the weather looks dry for tomorrow, it will be chilly, so be sure to send your child with appropriate cold-weather gear.

We are excited that we have reached our first schoolwide PBIS goal for earning Jaguar Pride Tickets. We will be having our all school celebration for this tomorrow. Each class will have a buddy class to have a short activity with for the celebration.

Your child’s first quarter progress report has been posted in Skyward. Please see the directions in the Thursday Folder email for how to access it. Please review your child’s report at your earliest convenience!

Next week is our first Parent/Teacher conference date. Conferences are being held in-person on November 17 and November 21st from 4:00-7:30 p.m.  If you have not signed up yet, please do so as the conference scheduler will be closing on Monday morning. Here is the information regarding conferences and how to sign up!

Next Monday, November 14,  we will be celebrating World Diabetes Day. Staff and students are encouraged to wear blue on Monday to show support for people with diabetes.

Finally, while we love our animal friends, please remember that dogs are not allowed on school property. If you walk with your dog to pick up or drop off your child(ren), you will need to remain on the sidewalk on Keup and off of school property for the safety of all. Thank you for complying with this posted policy.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Angela Little, Principal
Scott May, Assistant Principal

Veterans Day
On Friday, November 11, 2022,  at 9:30 a.m., we will celebrate Veterans Day by having a special car procession past all three of our CSD elementary schools. Please fill out the form if your child has a Veteran who would like to join us in this special procession.

Veteran's Day Service Learning Project
As part of our celebration, we'd like to continue the tradition of adding a Service Learning Project. We believe that by participating in this activity, our students will have a better understanding of what citizenship means, and they can continue to grow as “Students of Character!” As a district, we would like to collect money to send to Camp American Legion which is an organization that welcomes Veterans and their families to come together in a safe and comfortable environment so that they can reconnect and heal. For more information on how you can participate please see this flyer.

Absent/Late Arrival
If you are going to be late or absent, please call the Thorson attendance line at 262-376-6766 before 9:00 a.m.  Please state your student's full name, teacher, and the reason for the absence.  If your student will be taking hot lunch they will need to leave their lunch choice as well.
