Weekly Newsletter May 20-24

Dear Families,

We have been practicing for our music concert and we can't wait t perform for you tonight!! Please remember to bring your child to the assigned rooms at 5:45.  Kuck & Veenendaal - Flex Room 67 and Neuville/Rocky - Music Room 68.

Skills:

This week in skills, we added 5 new Tricky Words to our list : he, she, we, be and me.  We have practiced writing, reading and spelling these words and we've got them down! We had fun finding Jabari's goggles in our Tricky Word Game, too! 

Knowledge:

The story this week was Jabari Jumps.  This book is about a boy who overcomes his fear of jumping off the diving board. While listening to the story, students worked on predicting, retelling, and making inferences.   Ask your kindergartner what their favorite part of the story was.

We made cute projects of us going in the pool, just like Jabari did in the story!  These projects are currently hanging in our hallway.  They remind us that summer will soon be here!

 Everyone loved this week's poem about going on a Field Trip to the City Zoo! Be sure to have your child sing and do the motions for our poem at home!

MATH:

This week in math, we used a number line to play some fun games.  We had to locate numbers on the number line and find the number that was 2 more or 2 less. We also had to locate numbers on a 50's and a 100's chart - wow! We are learning so much in math!

*Betty Brinn Field trip is on Tuesday June 4th.  We will be eating lunch when we return.

*Field Day is on Wednesday, June 5th.  Be sure to wear gym shoes, bring a water bottle and apply sunscreen to your child before school - as we will be outside for a good portion of the day.
