A Note from the Principal Dear Thorson Families, As we enter the final couple of weeks of the school year, we will again be doing a fun Thorson Countdown to send us off to summer. Starting Tuesday, May 28, we will have fun “theme” days that each start with one of the letters in the word “Thorson”. Here is the Thorson Countdown plan. Please note the dress up or fun activities that we have planned for each of those final days. Thank you to all who contributed to our Green Team Penny War Fundraiser. We raised a total of $3,871.34. The winning classrooms were as follows: 1st- VanSluys - $454.78 2nd-Ernisse $310.80 3rd- Majinski $288.81 Thank you for your support of our Thorson Green Team! We are excited to announce that our school has again met their goal of filling the Jaguar Pride Ticket bucket. Hooray! Each grade will be going on a field trip for our last PBIS all-school celebration. Your child’s teacher will send details about their trip. There is a fee in Skyward of $5.05 for each student for this trip. Please note that this fee was significantly reduced by our school PBIS fund and funding from our wonderful PTO. We thank the PTO for their support of this special trip to reduce the cost for families! We are proud of our students’ hard work this year and are excited to celebrate them with this all-school reward. On the last day of school, Friday, June 5, we will be having our annual Field Day. We are planning for a fun day of outdoor and indoor activities for all students in K-5th grade. In order to make this day successful, we need your help! We are looking for parent volunteers to help set up, run various stations, and clean up at the conclusion of the event. Please sign up here if you are able to help! There is no school on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. We express our deepest gratitude for those who have lost their lives in service of our country. Have a great weekend! Supply List for 2024-25 Here is the supply list for the fall of 2024-25 Attendance Policy CSD Attendance Frequently Asked Questions Pawsitively PTOGet your school supplies now for next year! The PTO has once again arranged a convenient school supplies kit service for the upcoming school year! The Write Stuff, a woman-owned company located in Elburn, IL, has been providing excellent service for the past four years. This service is a great way for busy parents to save time and effort! This service allows you to purchase a kit that includes all the items on your child's school supplies list for 2023-24. It is completely optional! The benefit is that it helps you avoid the rush in August trying to find that [insert specific color] notebook or other item that you would not expect to be hard to find (spoken from experience). The bonus is that you can edit your kit to remove anything you already have (e.g., markers or pencils leftover from this year or headphones you don't need more). This service does not benefit the PTO in any way (e.g., it is not a fundraiser). The Write Stuff store for Thorson Elementary School is now open at www.write-stuff.com/storefront/school/thorson. If you order by June 15th, you will enjoy free delivery to the school in August. The store will be open until July 15th, with standard delivery fees applied after 6/15. You can find the 2024-25 school supplies lists here. Please note that there are a few items on the list that The Write Stuff does not carry, such as art smocks, shoes, and backpacks. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Nicole Stein at (414) 640-1985 or nicole@steinmediadesign.com! The next PTO meeting is on 06/03 at 7:00 p.m. Here is the agenda for the meeting. Reserve the Thorson Celebration Rock for the 2023-2024 school year Reservation requests for the Thorson Celebration Rock are now being accepted for the 2023-2024 school year.
