A Note from the Principal Dear Thorson Families, The end of the second quarter of the school year is next week (Jan. 18), and our spring parent teacher conference night will be following shortly after that. If you are satisfied with the communication you have received from your child's teacher, and you understand your child’s academic strengths and areas for growth, you are not required to schedule a spring conference. However, we will continue to offer traditional conferences, so if you feel a conference would be beneficial, save February 8th on your calendar so you can be sure to sign up for a conference. More information will be coming out about these conferences at the end of January. Our teachers appreciate knowing your concerns and working with you to resolve any issues as they arise, so always email or call your child’s teacher whenever there is a need. Students in grades K-5th are currently taking the iReady diagnostic assessment for our second testing period. Testing started last week and will continue through the end of the testing window, which is January 26. Results of your child’s assessment will be posted in Skyward Family Access in February. You will receive an email when the results are ready to be viewed. Looking ahead, next week on Thursday, January 18, we will be having a fun outdoor celebration for our PBIS all-school celebration that the students have earned. Watch for more information from your child’s teacher. Thank you to the PTO for providing the hot cocoa treat for this celebration. Additionally, we have Thorson night at the CHS basketball game on Tuesday, January 23. See information below for purchasing tickets to the game. Thorson students get into the game for free. Finally, the PTO is hosting a parents night out to raise funds for additional playground pieces for Area B, which students have indicated is needed! The PTO sent an email yesterday regarding this event. Please consider attending this fun evening for a great cause! Please note that next week is a short week. There is no school on Monday, January 15 as it is the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There is also no school next Friday, January 19, as this is a professional development day to close out the second quarter. Have a great long weekend!
