Our Weekly News March 4-8

 Dear Families,

This week we have had more Lion Days than Lamb Days! Be sure to ask your child what that means and why we are keeping track of it!

ELA

This week during skills, we started a new Unit.  We started by reviewing letter sounds, digraphs and rhyming words.  We also stated a new reader and our students are so excited to read about Sam's adventures! This week we added 2 new tricky words to our list - funny and all. Check out our Tic tac toe game - be sure to ask your child to read all of the words for you!

Last week we read 2 fiction stories about goats.  This week, we read non fiction Goat books.  We loved adding to our schema and learning all about goats! Did you know that some goats climb trees?? We wrote all about our learning, too.  Be sure to ask your child to read their nonfiction goat book to you - we can do it!

Our poem this week talked about spring puddles...we are ALL ready for SPRING!!

In math, we are continuing our work with identifying shapes. The students loved learning to draw some of the 3D shapes.  Ask your kindergartner to draw them for you!  We are also continuing our work at identifying if a number is greater than or less than another number.  We played a fun game where a student would ask for a number, and we would cross out numbers that were greater or less than that number.  The game would continue until the correct number was found.

This week in Social Studies we started our unit on Long Ago.  We started off by working on comparing and contrasting. We were really good at comparing and contrasting a car and a bus! We are looking forward to learning about what life was like long ago!

*Please remember to pack a snack for your child everyday!
*Spring Break starts after school on Friday, March 22nd
Have a great weekend
💚💛xoxo Mrs. Neuville & Mrs. Rocky
