A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,

I hope you all had a safe and warm day yesterday on the snow day. The students had a blast playing in the snow today! Apparently, the groundhog was right - winter is still here!

Please note that regular school attendance is critical to your child’s success. That being said, we understand that there are times when children need to be absent from school for various reasons. If your child is absent due to a dental/medical appointment or was sick and saw the doctor, it is always best to get a medical note from the doctor or an appointment card/note verifying the appointment, so this can be included in your child’s attendance record. When we have documentation such as this, your child’s absence is marked as “Medically Excused” rather than one of the 10 allowed “Parental Excused Absences” allocated each year. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Three weeks are left until our Winter Carnival, which is on Saturday, March 11. It takes many hands to make this a successful event for our students and families. We are so grateful to the chairs of this event for their hard work in returning it. Please help them out by signing up for a volunteer spot. The volunteer sign-up is linked below. Also, below is the information regarding the raffle baskets and how to donate to them. Thank you for your help! We are looking forward to a fantastic carnival.

We will celebrate Read Across America week from February 27-March 3 to encourage our students' lifelong love of reading. To celebrate, there will be daily dress-up days to go with each reading theme.  Please see this document for all the details so you can plan ahead.

Our next Early Release Day is Friday, March 3, 2023. Students in 5K-5th grade will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. and 4K will run their modified Early Release Day schedule. Please mark your calendars.

Sincerely,

Angela Little, Principal
Scott May, Assistant Principal

4K & 5K New Student Enrollment

Enrollment is NOW open for students new to the Cedarburg School District in 2023-24. Follow the instructions on the district website to enroll. We look forward to welcoming you to Cedarburg School District!

Absent/Late Arrival

If you will be late or absent, please call the Thorson attendance line at 262-376-6766 before 9:00 a.m.  Please state your student's full name, teacher, and the reason for the absence.  If your student is taking hot lunch, they will also need to leave their lunch choice.

Cold Weather
With winter weather quickly approaching, please remind your student(s) to dress appropriately for outdoor recess. If possible, keeping an extra pair of gloves and a hat in their backpack would be beneficial.
