Dear Families,
In Communication Arts, we have been reviewing our past letters. We have introduced all of the letters and their sounds. Continue to practice the alphabet with your child. We have also identified the Star Words “to” and “is.” Please continue to practice star words with your child. We test these throughout the school year.
The story this week was Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watts. Ask your kindergartner what their favorite part of the story was! While listening to the story, students worked on the strategies of predicting, retelling, connecting, and stating their opinions.
In writing, we have been working on writing Show and Tell Stories. This week we worked on writing a story about Target or Cedar Creek Park. We added labels and wrote a sentence about what we do at those locations. Ask your kindergartner all about it! Students sound out words, add spaces, and make sure they have periods to end their sentences. We also need to remember to have our pictures match our words. The students are doing a great job!
In math, we have been working on counting by 2's. This can sometimes be a tricky concept to understand. Please practice counting by 2's with your kindergartner. We also really love the counting by 2's song!
This week's poem was "I'm a Little Scarecrow" Please be sure to check your child's Seesaw account. You will be able to hear your child perform the poem.
