Wear Your Thorson Spirit Wear Tomorrow

A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Parents,

What an amazing week we have had! We are humbled by the outpouring of support from our community during National Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. On behalf of the entire staff, we thank you for all of the wonderful surprises we have received this week. Thank you to the PTO,  all of the volunteers, and our wonderful families for the efforts to make this a special week for the staff. We are so very grateful. It was a fun week for the students as well, and we are looking forward to closing out this awesome week with our very first all-school assembly tomorrow afternoon. It is going to be a blast!

For the month of May, we are focusing on the character trait of Commitment. As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we as a staff are fully committed to each and every one of our students, and we encourage our students to show their commitment to school by staying focused and doing their very best!

Students in Kindergarten-5th grade will be taking the NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment in both ELA and math. The spring MAP window starts May 9 and continues through May 27. Results will be available at the end of the school year and will be posted in Skyward Family Access. You will receive an email when the results have been posted. We look forward to reviewing our MAP data to see the growth that has been made this school year.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Angela Little, Principal
Brittany Kleeba, Assistant Principal

All performing students will need to be dropped off in the front doors of the CPAC at 6:00PM. Our attire for the evening should be nice dressy clothes, the details of which we will leave up to the discretion of our band parents.

Green Team

Green Squad is looking to fill a few more slots for helping with our new planter boxes!  Please sign-up!

Help the Thorson Green Team by turning your Coca-Cola product purchases into donations to Thorson.  You can donate by going to coke.com/give/schools and selecting Thorson Elementary.  Then scan or enter product codes from participating products.  Codes are located on the inside of caps or printed inside cardboard cases.  If you don't have the time, please bring the codes to school and put them in the RED bucket inside the front doors.  Donations received will be used to fund Green Team projects at Thorson.

Thorson is renewing its interest in the Crayola ColorCycle program.  This program converts old markers into energy as well as wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles. The process repurposes the entire marker, regardless of the different kinds of plastics or how they are assembled. ALL brands of markers, highlighters and dry erase markers can be recycled.  Markers can be placed in the WHITE bucket near the front doors or in the GREEN buckets throughout the building.

Absent/Late Arrival-

If you are going to be late or absent, please call the Thorson attendance line at 262-376-6766 before 9:00 a.m.  Please state your student's first and last name, teacher, and the reason for the absence.  If you are going to be late and are taking hot lunch, please let us know your child's lunch choice by calling the school office at 262-376-6705.
