Weekly Newsletter March 28-April 1

Dear Families,
BRING on SPRING!! We are ALL ready to ditch our snow boots and coats for spring jackets!! Fingers crossed that next week is the week!!

This week in ELA, we read Piggie Pie by Margie Palatini. While listening to the story, we worked on the strategies of predicting, visualizing, retelling, inferring, and making text to text connections!! It was hilarious - we all LOVED this story! Be sure to ask your child about his/her favorite part!
We all know what cackled and lumbered means...ask us to tell you!
Our 2 new sight words were be and there.  We had to read them and find them in our game all week.  Be sure to ask us where those sneaky piggies were hiding!
In phonics this week we worked on the /ang/ ending.  We can read and write words like hang, sang, rang, bang and clang! Ask us to show you at home!
This week our poem was Spring Celebration! We sang our poem, we read our poem, and we made up movements for our poem.  We know you will like watching us perform our poem on Seesaw on Friday!
In Writer's Workshop, we completed our Informative Writing Unit! We were so impressed with our little writers! Kids wrote books about Easter, Great Wolf Lodge, Jaguars, Watermelons, Teeth, Hockey, Soccer, Football, Disney...the list goes on!! I know you will enjoy listening to your little authors read their informative books to you at home, too!

In Math this week, our students had experiences with measurement. We spent time comparing the weights of objects stressing the concepts of heavier and lighter. We also estimated and counted capacity in non-standard units, with a focus on counting by 10's and 1's!

GREAT NEWS!!
The entire school earned a PBIS reward!! Tomorrow (Friday) we will be watching a movie for a bit in the afternoon.  Our kindergartners can bring a favorite stuffie to school with them to join in the fun!!

Have a great weekend!
💚💛Mrs. Neuville and Mrs. Rocky
