A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,

The ever-changing Wisconsin weather is presenting challenges to our typical recess plans.  Please continue to send snow pants, boots, hats, warm coats and gloves/mittens to school with your child(ren) so that they are prepared for whatever the day's weather holds.  Daylight Savings is this weekend!  Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday.

Next Monday evening, March 14, is our next PTO meeting. Parents are invited to join us for this meeting at Thorson in the Community Room. You can enter through Door #14 at the north end of the school. We hope to see many of you there!

Next Thursday, March 17, we invite students and staff to wear green to school for St. Patrick’s Day!  Next Friday is a professional development day for teachers, so there will be NO SCHOOL for students.  Spring Break runs from March 18-March 27.  School resumes on Monday, March 28.

We are excited to announce our first Girls in STEAM Saturday event, being held for all 2-5 grade students at Cedarburg High School on Saturday, April 23, 2022 8:30 a.m-12:30 p.m. Please see this poster for details and registration information.

Finally, the teaching staff will be starting class placement work for the 2022-23 school year in the coming weeks.  Please read this important letter regarding class placement and parent feedback.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Angela Little, Principal
Brittany Kleeba, Assistant Principal

Girls in STEAM Saturday- April 23
On Saturday, April 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., there will be a Girls in STEAM Saturday event hosted for CSD students in grades 2-5 at Cedarburg High School! This free Saturday event will give students in grades 2-5 a chance to engage in hands-on activities that allow for exploration in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). Please see the attached flyer for more details regarding this event.

Green Team
Help the Thorson Green Team by turning your Coca-Cola product purchases into donations to Thorson.  You can donate by going to coke.com/give/schools and selecting Thorson Elementary.  Then scan or enter product codes from participating products.  Codes are located on the inside of caps or printed inside cardboard cases.  If you don't have the time, please bring the codes to school and put them in the RED bucket inside the front doors.  Donations received will be used to fund Green Team projects at Thorson.

Thorson is renewing its interest in the Crayola ColorCycle program.  This program converts old markers into energy as well as wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles. The process repurposes the entire marker, regardless of the different kinds of plastics or how they are assembled. ALL brands of markers, highlighters and dry erase markers can be recycled.  Markers can be placed in the WHITE bucket near the front doors or in the GREEN buckets throughout the building.

Absent/Late Arrival-
If you are going to be late or absent, please call the Thorson attendance line at 262-376-6766 before 9:00 a.m.  Please state your student's first and last name, teacher, and the reason for the absence.  If you are going to be late and are taking hot lunch, please let us know your child's lunch choice by calling the school office at 262-376-6705.
