NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!
A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,
This is the last student day of the semester! While your children are home with you tomorrow, teachers will be participating in professional learning focused on English Language Arts and Social Studies in the morning, and then working on progress reports in the afternoon. We will be uploading the 2nd quarter progress reports to Skyward Family Access late next week. You will receive an email when that information is ready to be viewed.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade have been completing NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessments in both ELA and math. We are wrapping up testing next week. You will receive an email notification when the individual student reports are ready to be reviewed in Skyward Family Access. These assessment results help us determine what standards each student has mastered, and which standards they are ready to learn next. This is a very useful tool to help teachers plan for instruction and to formulate small groups for academic interventions and extensions.
We are excited to announce that the students have met their goal of filling up our Jaguar Pride ticket bucket and have earned the next all-school reward. Next week, we will be having a Winter Wonderland Olympic theme. Students will have the opportunity to play some fun outdoor winter games, have a special treat to warm-up, and other fun activities throughout the week. On Wednesday, January 26, we invite all students and staff to dress like a snowman! It is sure to be a fun week celebrating our awesome students!
Don’t forget that next Friday (Jan. 28) is Thorson night at the CHS Bulldogs boys basketball game. All Thorson students who attend will receive free admission, a free popcorn, and are welcome to be part of the pregame introductions. There will also be a fun lightning game at half time. The game starts at 7:15 p.m. This is a great winter activity and a fun community event. We hope to see many of you there!
Have a great long weekend! Stay warm and GO PACK!
Sincerely,
Angela Little, Principal
Brittany Kleeba, Assistant Principal

Green Team
Help the Thorson Green Team by turning your Coca-Cola product purchases into donations to Thorson. You can donate by going to coke.com/give/schools and selecting Thorson Elementary. Then scan or enter product codes from participating products. Codes are located on the inside of caps or printed inside cardboard cases. If you don't have the time, please bring the codes to school and put them in the RED bucket inside the front doors. Donations received will be used to fund Green Team projects at Thorson.
Thorson is renewing its interest in the Crayola ColorCycle program. This program converts old markers into energy as well as wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles. The process repurposes the entire marker, regardless of the different kinds of plastics or how they are assembled. ALL brands of markers, highlighters and dry erase markers can be recycled. Markers can be placed in the WHITE bucket near the front doors or in the GREEN buckets throughout the building.
Last Call for a Thorson Yearbook
If you have not yet purchased a yearbook for the 2021-2022 school year, there is still time to make your purchase. All yearbook orders need to be placed by January 21, 2022. You may do so by signing into your Skyward account. Then select "Fee Management" and "Make a payment". There will not be extra yearbooks at distribution in late May/early June, so please purchase today.
