Early Release 1:45 Tomorrow

A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,

Happy first day of fall!  It definitely feels like the seasons are changing today.  Please make sure to send a coat or jacket to school daily with your child, as we go outside multiple times during the school day.  Thank you!

We are continuing to solidify our school routines and are working on being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. As a reminder, most Fridays are Thorson Spirit Wear days and students are encouraged to wear their Thorson spiritwear or blue/white! Please join us in showing our Jaguar Pride tomorrow by doing this!

If you were unable to attend the Superintendent Meet and Greet session that was held at Thorson this week, there are three more sessions coming up next week at Parkview, Webster, and Westlawn. Please see below for the details and consider attending.

Tomorrow, September 23, is our first EARLY RELEASE DAY.  Students in K-5 will be dismissed at 1:45pm.  4K will run a modified schedule, with the morning 4K session running from 8:50-10:35 a.m. and the afternoon session from 12:00-1:45 p.m. Please plan accordingly and remember to send a note or call the front office (262-376-6700) if your child has a change of going home plans due to the early dismissal.

Happy Weekend!

Sincerely,

Angela Little, Principal
Scott May, Assistant Principal

CSD News
Homecoming Week is September 26-October 1 at Cedarburg High School!
During next week's JV and V athletic games, CHS Athletics will have bins outside Groth Family Stadium at Alumni Field to collect food donations for Ozaukee Family Sharing.
Bins will be located outside the gates on Thursday and Friday. Any donations of non-perishable items are greatly appreciated!
The event raises much-needed funds for Family Sharing's food pantry while raising awareness of the growing need in Ozaukee County.
Let's GO Bulldogs!

Please join Dr. Jeridon Clark for a Superintendent Meet & Greet. As a first step to introduce himself to CSD families and answer any questions you may have of him, Dr. Clark is offering Parent/Superintendent Meet & Greets.

  • Webster Middle School - September 26th - 7:45 p.m.
  • Parkview Elementary School - September 28th - 6:30 p.m.

If you prefer not to attend or are not available on the time/date of the Meet & Greet at any of the school buildings, please feel free to complete the anonymous form for the opportunity to ask a few questions and/or give Dr. Clark some feedback. (Anonymous Comment/Feedback forms will be available during the event for those in attendance.)
We hope to see you there!

Social Studies Update

A team of teachers at our school are conducting a short-term trial of a new Social Studies resource called:  TCI.  Last year, a District team considered a few resources that they felt could meet Cedarburg Social Studies Standards, and based upon some preliminary review believed the TCI should be explored more closely along with Native People of Wisconsin.  Additionally grade 4 teachers will be exploring Wisconsin, Our State, Our Story.  Thus, at our school the following teachers will be using this resource for September and October and will be implementing one unit of study.  Here's ________(school name) Trial Team (select just your team from below):

Westlawn:  Melissa Fry, Angie Sheppard, Ann Ingham, Meghan Reilly and Charlotte Butzler
Parkview:  Ashley Miller, Jennifer French, Ben Gauger, and Steve Keller
Thorson:  Erin Staffaroni, Molly Houben, Jack Brooks

Webster:  Mike Johnson, Andrew Mindham, Kyle Peterson

We are excited at the prospects of updating our Social Studies curriculum.  More information to follow as the District Trial Team continues its research in this important area of the curriculum.
