Bucks Friday!  Wear your Milwaukee Bucks Colors

A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,

Today you will be able to sign up for our optional in-person spring parent/teacher conferences on the evening of Thursday, February 17th. Spring conferences are not required unless you have concerns that you would like to address. Likewise, teachers will communicate with you if they feel a meeting would be beneficial for your child. If required, virtual conferences can be scheduled by contacting your child(ren)’s teacher(s) directly.

The directions to sign up for a conference appointment in Skyward Family Access are here.  AMP conferences are not required but you are able to schedule art, music, and/or physical education conferences if you have a concern. Please note that if your child has Mr. Kroenke, Mrs. Ward, or Mrs. Miller, those teachers will be at Westlawn during conference night. If you want a conference with any of those teachers, you will need to go to Westlawn or schedule a different time to meet with them.

Additionally, the winter MAP (Measure of Academic Performance) Reading and Math assessment reports have been uploaded to Skyward Family Access for students in grades 5K-5.  Please take a moment to view your child’s MAP report  by clicking on ‘Portfolio and Reports’ from the left sidebar. Then click on Click on “NWEA MAP Winter 2022”.  If you have any questions regarding the MAP report, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

Lastly, don’t miss your opportunity to help the school board determine what characteristics and skills they should look for in hiring our next superintendent by filling out the short survey linked here: Cedarburg School District 2022 Superintendent Search Survey The survey will be open through February 18th.

Thank you for your continued support. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Angela Little, Principal
Brittany Kleeba, Assistant Principal

Masks Mandatory on all CSD Bus Routes
Federal regulations require that face masks be worn by all passengers and employees on board all buses. If your student is being transported on one of our routes, please ensure your student has a mask. Students will not be able to board a bus without wearing a mask. If your student chooses not to wear a mask while at school, they may remove the mask after exiting the bus.

Green Team
Help the Thorson Green Team by turning your Coca-Cola product purchases into donations to Thorson.  You can donate by going to coke.com/give/schools and selecting Thorson Elementary.  Then scan or enter product codes from participating products.  Codes are located on the inside of caps or printed inside cardboard cases.  If you don't have the time, please bring the codes to school and put them in the RED bucket inside the front doors.  Donations received will be used to fund Green Team projects at Thorson.

Thorson is renewing its interest in the Crayola ColorCycle program.  This program converts old markers into energy as well as wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles. The process repurposes the entire marker, regardless of the different kinds of plastics or how they are assembled. ALL brands of markers, highlighters and dry erase markers can be recycled.  Markers can be placed in the WHITE bucket near the front doors or in the GREEN buckets throughout the building.

Absent/Late Arrival-
If you are going to be late or absent, please call the Thorson attendance line at 262-376-6766 before 9:00 a.m.  Please state your student's first and last name, teacher, and the reason for the absence.  If you are going to be late and are taking hot lunch, please let us know your child's lunch choice by calling the school office at 262-376-6705.
