Wear Thorson Spirtwear!
A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,
Happy Snowy Thursday! Thank you for making sure that your child(ren) has appropriate winter weather gear at school each day. We do require boots and snowpants to play on the snowy grass and we want to make sure that everyone has that opportunity. Additionally, winter coats are required with the current winter temperatures. Thank you for helping us with this!
Next week, we will be having dress up theme days for students and staff as we near the winter break. Monday (12/19) is Cozy Clothes Day. Wear flannel shirts or fuzzy scarves and socks. Tuesday (12/20) is Holiday Color Day. Wear red, green, white and/or blue. Wednesday (12/21) is Ugly Sweater/Tacky Outfit day. We invite all students and staff to join in the fun!
For 5th grade band students, please note that there are NO band lessons next week! There will not be a Thursday folder next week as it is a short week. Please note that winter break is 12/22-1/1. School resumes on Monday, January 2, which will be Thorson’s annual PJ day! Have a wonderful holiday season and winter break!
Sincerely,
Angela Little, Principal
Scott May, Assistant Principal

A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,
Thank you to all who donated toys or money to the Kapco Kids 2 Kids Toy Drive. The generosity of our school community is truly amazing. We collected over $700 and have three large carts full of toys to contribute to this great cause. We also thank our Student Council advisors and student members. They did a great job of leading this service project.
Winter weather is officially here! Students are expected to dress for the weather. This includes winter coats, boots, snow pants, hats, and gloves/mittens. When there is snow on the ground, students must have boots, and to play off of the blacktop, they must have both boots and snow pants. We are outside for recess unless the temperature or wind chill drops below zero. Thank you for ensuring your child is prepared to be outside!
Please remember that if your child is coming to school late for any reason or is returning to school from an appointment, you need to walk your child into the office and sign them in. Students should not be dropped off without an adult outside of the normal drop-off period. Thank you for cooperation with this!
The PTO is again hosting the Thorson Chess Club, which is currently looking for participants. This club is open to Thorson students in 1st-5th grade. Details and dates are listed below. We also have the Lego Club up and running again. This club is looking for participants and volunteers. See below for more information. Additionally, the next PTO meeting is being held Monday, December 12 in the Community Room at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
There is NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow, December 9, as it is a professional development day for teaching staff. Have a wonderful extended weekend!
Sincerely,
Angela Little, Principal

Wear Thorson spiritwear and bring $1.00 to wear a hat or bring a stuffed animal or $2.00 for both!
A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,
I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. It was great to see all of you at Parent/Teacher conferences before Thanksgiving. We are excited to continue our work with all of you as the year goes on.
For the month of December, we are working on the character trait of kindness. We will kick off our work with this character trait at our all-school Jaguar Jumpstart tomorrow morning. We are challenging students to show kindness in both big and small ways, including participating in our annual Kapco Kids 2 Kids Toy Drive, which is being led by our Thorson Student Council. New and unwrapped toys can be brought in through December 8. Additionally, tomorrow, students may participate in a fundraiser for the toy drive by bringing $1 to wear a hat or bring a stuffed animal to school, or $2 to do both. Thank you for your consideration of supporting this great cause.
Thank you to all who supported the Thorson PTO Book Fair by purchasing or volunteering. We appreciate your support! The Thorson PTO is currently selling bundt cakes from “Nothing Bundt Cakes”, which will make wonderful holiday gifts. Please see the information that was sent home or check out the Thorson PTO facebook page for more information. Orders are due on December 9.
Looking ahead to next week, please remember that we do not have school on Friday, December 9. This is a professional development day for teachers.
Don’t forget, students and staff are encouraged to wear Thorson spiritwear or school colors to school tomorrow (12/2) for our Jaguar Jumpstart!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Angela Little, Principal
