Wear Blue Tomorrow for Autism Awareness
A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break! We had a great first week back, with students participating in refresher activities on our PBIS expectations. We are also excited to announce that we filled our schoolwide pride ticket bin and have earned our next all-school reward. All grades will have a fun activity sometime tomorrow to celebrate. Way to go, Thorson Jaguars!
We are gearing up for our annual Stuff the Bus food drive. The food drive will run from April 18-22 and will benefit the Saukville Community Food Pantry. The pantry will be offering tours of the food pantry for families on Sunday, April 10 from 3-6. Please see the attached flier for more information about this.
We are nearing the end of the 3rd quarter already. The quarter ends next Thursday, April 7. There will be no school on Friday, April 8 as this is a professional development and records day for the staff. Progress reports will be posted the week of April 11.
Students in 3rd-5th grade will begin Forward testing next week. Please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on testing days! Also, please be sure that they bring their charged chromebook to school.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Angela Little, Principal
Brittany Kleeba, Assistant Principal

This year will be our first year to offer ALL students in 4th and 5th grade a chance to be a part of our Active Jaguars Club. The purpose of this club is to provide students with an opportunity to be active through fun fitness activities and games. This club will encourage students to cooperate, team build, set personal goals, and practice good sportsmanship. See flyer for more info.
Stuff the Bus Food Drive
Help make a difference for local families in need!
Parkview, Thorson and Westlawn Elementary Schools are working together to STUFF THE
BUS with non-perishable items for Saukville Community Food Pantry.
Saukville Community Food Pantry serves over 650 families a year in Ozaukee County. Food
Drives like Stuff the Bus can help refill the shelves due to the increased use of the pantry this
past year.
Items most needed are: canned fruits and vegetables, pasta and sauce, rice, peanut butter
and jelly, canned chunky soups, Manwich, dry cereal, ketchup, mayonnaise, granola bars, toilet
paper, paper towel, Kleenex, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
All donated items can be brought into school the week of April 18 th -22nd. On Friday, April 22nd
all donated items will be picked up and delivered to the food pantry!
If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Saukville Community Food Pantry instead
of a food donation, you can Venmo the pantry directly at @saukvillefoodpantry.

School Planter Boxes
The Thorson PTO graciously granted each grade level a planter box. We are looking for volunteers to each take a week and help tend to our boxes throughout the summer. We have 7 total planter boxes so feel free to bring a friend or two! We would like each volunteer to take a week where they come pull weeds, water(watering can and water provided), and harvest any crops. You are welcome to keep what you pick, give it away, or donate it. If you run any clubs and would like to bring them on your sign-up date that would also be great, feel free to share your week with others! This is a great learning opportunity for our students but it cannot be successful without your help. Depending on what each class plants, you may not have much to do on your week or quite a bit, so thanks for you being flexible. I have the sign up going all the way until August, but you may come and see things have died and just need to be pulled. If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Papke. Please sign-up here
Help the Thorson Green Team by turning your Coca-Cola product purchases into donations to Thorson. You can donate by going to coke.com/give/schools and selecting Thorson Elementary. Then scan or enter product codes from participating products. Codes are located on the inside of caps or printed inside cardboard cases. If you don't have the time, please bring the codes to school and put them in the RED bucket inside the front doors. Donations received will be used to fund Green Team projects at Thorson.
Thorson is renewing its interest in the Crayola ColorCycle program. This program converts old markers into energy as well as wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles. The process repurposes the entire marker, regardless of the different kinds of plastics or how they are assembled. ALL brands of markers, highlighters and dry erase markers can be recycled. Markers can be placed in the WHITE bucket near the front doors or in the GREEN buckets throughout the building.
Absent/Late Arrival-
If you are going to be late or absent, please call the Thorson attendance line at 262-376-6766 before 9:00 a.m. Please state your student's first and last name, teacher, and the reason for the absence. If you are going to be late and are taking hot lunch, please let us know your child's lunch choice by calling the school office at 262-376-6705.
